CHARLOTTE — Beverly Beyer said she still doesn’t know why she didn’t get her first stimulus check.

“I still am a citizen of the United States. I pay my taxes. I vote. I do everything I’m expected to do,” she told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke.

She hopes she gets the second one.

Here are some of the more common reasons you may not have gotten your first stimulus check:

- Someone stole it out of the mail

- Someone stole your identity

- You accidentally threw the check or prepaid card away thinking it was junk mail

- You thought you were eligible for the money but weren’t

Sabrina Blake falls into that last category.

She was still in college last year and a dependent on her parents’ taxes, so she didn’t get her own check. And she was over 16 years old, so her parents didn’t get money for her either.

“Definitely would have used it on bills for sure,” she said.

The second round of stimulus checks are based on last year’s taxes and left out adult dependents again.

Unfortunately, Blake won’t get that money either.

“I don’t think that’s fair,” she said. “I mean, I’m paying taxes. I was paying taxes before out of my own money.”

If you think you should have gotten stimulus money the first time and didn’t all is not lost.

You can still claim it when you file your next tax return. Click here.
