Many applying for unemployment want to know what ‘pending resolution’ means

Pineville, N.C. — Many of you say you finally got through. You were able to apply for unemployment. But now it says, "pending resolution.”

We all know what the word “pending” means. But the question is: do you just wait for the state or is the state waiting for you to do something else.

So she’s self-employed and self-employed people could start applying for unemployment last Friday. She told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke she did, but that almost a week later, “Everything says, ‘pending resolution.’ You don’t know if you filed all of the correct paperwork. They’ve told you not to file again. The system is so broken.”

“Those funds would be more than helpful for me to pay my responsibilities. Like everybody else,” Heidenreich said. “I am frustrated beyond belief, so frustrated.”

Other viewers are also in holding patterns. One person emailed Stoogenke and said she applied in March and “it’s said pending for at least 4 weeks now.”

So Stoogenke asked the North Carolina Department of Commerce about the word “pending.” Commerce said “the claim can be pending for several reasons.” The main one is the state’s “verifying information, to make a determination on the claim.” The state may “need more information” from you, but the state would let you know on your “customer homepage.”

In other words, if you see “pending,” there’s nothing else to do at the moment. Just wait for the state.
