HICKORY, N.C. — Firefighters responded to a chemical spill inside a plant that manufactures tape products in Hickory on Wednesday morning.
Officials told Channel 9′s Dave Faherty that Highland Avenue at 16th Street was shut down while crews responded to a toluene spill at Shurtape Technologies.

Authorities have not said how much spilled, but they evacuated the plant and the spill is contained.
Officials said they were working to pump the chemical out of the plant.
