CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A man accused of shooting at law enforcement in Chesterfield County is now in custody after a standoff came to an end Thursday morning, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said.
Officers said this all started Wednesday evening outside a fitness center on Highway 151. An employee said a member of the gym was meeting with Kenneth Bragg outside and eventually called 911 on him because he pointed a gun and threatened to shoot everyone at the business.
Officers said when police arrived, Bragg shot at them.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater said his deputies and Pageland police followed Bragg, trying to get him to stop. They said he eventually barricaded himself inside a house on Sale Barn Lane.

That was around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Law enforcement said he didn’t come out of the home until after 9 a.m. Thursday. SLED confirmed then that Bragg was taken into custody.
“They told us come out of the house, leave everything, just come out of the house,” said Howard Airrington, who also lives on Sale Barn Lane. “We left the doors unlocked, TV on.”
Airrington said he and his mom were forced to leave home for their own safety.
“They pulled a car in and put us in the car, then carried us out yonder, and put us in another car and carried us to my sister’s house,” he said.
After the standoff wrapped up Thursday morning, he said he was allowed back home.
“The cars started leaving and I was over there at my sister’s house,” he said. “They said they had got him and I could go home.”
Bragg is in the Chesterfield County jail. SLED said he faces 29 charges, including six counts of attempted murder.
Channel 9′s Tina Terry learned he may not even appear before a judge until next week.
