CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The man who schemed victims out of more than $2 million then skipped out on federal court will spend the next 10 years in prison.

Investigators said John Knox Bridges convinced people to invest in a fake oil company.

One of his victims was the North Carolina Transportation Museum's fundraising arm.

In January, he didn't show up for sentencing.

He barricaded himself in a Salisbury Church, armed, but he later surrendered.
