Police identified the alleged robber as Kenneth Massey, and on Saturday they said they spotted his vehicle on Beatties Ford Road near Interstate 85.
Officers said Massey did not pull over when they tried to stop him, which led to a chase into South Carolina. During that pursuit, Massey drove down I-85, got off onto U.S. Highway 29 then got back onto the interstate, troopers said.

Officials said the chase ended after the South Carolina Highway Patrol joined in and Gaffney police deployed stop sticks, causing Massey to rear-end a trooper's cruiser.
No injuries were reported.

- 7-Eleven at 3800 Central Avenue
- Subway at 335 S. Kings Drive
- Subway at 9548 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road
- Dollar General at 7322 The Plaza
He was also charged in connection with an attempted robbery at the Subway at 1300 The Plaza.
