CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for the person who they said shot and killed a man late Wednesday night in northwest Charlotte.

The shooting happened just before midnight on Jones Street nearRozzelles Ferry Road.
Officers kept Channel 9 crews away from the scene, but they reported seeing detectives gathering evidence.
Investigators said they found 30-year-old Stephen Giles lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The person who called 911 told officers they saw Giles fall to the ground after hearing several shots.
Overnight, police went door-to-door in the neighborhood, searching for witnesses.
No arrests have been made and no suspect description has been released.
