CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte early Wednesday morning have released the identity of the man found killed.
Officers said that just after midnight they received a call for shots fired in the area of Turner Avenue and Rozzelles Ferry Road. While police were on the way, another call came in for a car crash in the 2200 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road.
When they arrived, officers found a man inside a car that had hit a utility pole.
They determined the man, identified as Kynyatta Dmyr Tshionna, 34, had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman who said she witnessed the crash spoke with Channel 9 on the scene. She said she heard several shots and saw a man was driving without any lights. She said he was driving fast, close to 100 mph, and hit the pole so hard that the tire exploded.
She said she called 911 and stayed with him until he died.

Investigators told Channel 9 they do not think the shooting was random, but they haven't released any information about a suspect or a motive.
Detectives were canvassing the neighborhood trying to speak with anyone who may have witnessed anything.
