SALISBURY, N.C. — Three teens attacked and shot a man at a Salisbury park while they recorded it on video, police said.
The victim told police he was sleeping in a gazebo when the three approached him.
He said two were recording and telling one of them to get him.
Matthew MacPhee said he was spending the night at Cannon Park when he awoke to someone stealing his bike.
The same people came back 20 minutes later and he tried to defend himself.
“I jumped up as fast as I could and shoved them,” MacPhee said.
One of the men raised a gun, he said.
“He was pointing the gun right at my head,” MacPhee said.
The gunman pulled the trigger but the weapon jammed.
MacPhee said he ran behind a tree and the gunman fired a shot, this time a bullet hit the tree.
MacPhee ran off.
Police found the suspects a few blocks away with a stolen gun from Spencer.
Officers arrested Jameon Sanders, Adan Macias-Macias and William Kennedy. They were all teenagers ranging from 16 to 18 years old.
MacPhee said he was sleeping there but he's not homeless.
He was stranded traveling from Texas to Maine for seasonal work.
