CONCORD, N.C. — A man was shot inside a Carolina Ale House restaurant early Thursday morning, Concord police said.
Police said it happened at the location on Concord Mills Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. The restaurant is right next to Concord Mills mall and several other stores.
Investigators believe an argument between two people led to a physical fight, and then one pulled out a gun and shot the other person.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.
Witnesses told Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura off camera that people came running outside for safety.
Concord police are continuing their investigation and reviewing surveillance video, conducting interviews, and reviewing physical evidence to figure out who the aggressor was in the incident.
The shooting had some shoppers on edge.
“I have the Channel 9 app and got the news alert,” Tyrone Mongo said.
“Don’t feel safe and always looking over your shoulder for something to happen, you’ve got to always be on alert,” he went on to say.
Mongo said he’s thankful no one else got hurt. He’s using the shooting as a teaching moment for his kids.
“Just walk away, you know?” he said. “Just walk away and try to get to a point where you don’t feel like you have to pull out a weapon to solve a problem.”
