LANCASTER, S.C. — A man was seriously hurt after he was shot in his sleep in a Lancaster home early Sunday morning, deputies said.
The shooting happened just after midnight on Hyde Street in Lancaster County.
Investigators said the man was asleep on a couch when someone outside fired dozens of shots into a home.
The victim was seriously hurt but is expected to be OK.
The woman who lives at the home told Channel 9's Erin Edwards that the victim was her nephew. She said he was visiting and sleeping on the armchair when he was shot.
“When my nephew come through, I heard it come through, and he said, 'I’ve been shot' and I got out of my bedroom," the woman said.
The woman also said there were five people inside the home at the time on the shooting.
Neighbors who witnessed the incident said two men got out of a car at the home and started shooting.
“It sounded like fireworks, just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom; just the neighborhood going crazy. I thought it was fireworks. It was, like, 59 shots, I think," said neighbor Rick Underwood.
No arrests have been made.
