Man hospitalized after hit by gunfire from passing vehicle, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a man was rushed to the hospital after being shot along a north Charlotte street early Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Catherine Simmons Avenue and Kennesaw Drive.

Detectives told Channel 9 a car pulled up alongside the man and someone inside shot him.

The victim is expected to survive.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle or the shooter and have not said what may have led to the violence.
