Person found shot to death at University City hotel

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide at a University City hotel.

Officers responded just before 2:30 a.m. to a disturbance call at the Sleep Inn on North Tryon Street near East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

When police got to the hotel they found a person who had been shot. The victim died at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released.

No arrests have been made and police have not released any other details about the crime.

The homicide was the second of the night that CMPD was investigating.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday police responded to Wilkinson Boulevard near Rosemont Street in west Charlotte.

Crime scene tape could be seen roping off an area near an arcade business, and there was a large crowd of people gathered.

Police said one person was shot and killed but they have not released any other information about the victim or said if anyone has been arrested.

Both investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information should call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective.
