CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a flasher is on the loose after exposing himself in a busy parking lot at a Target in Steele Creek on Wednesday evening.

Officers are investigating the indecent exposure after police received complaints that a man parked his car, got out and flashed a 31-year-old woman in the Rivergate Shopping Center on Walker Branch Road.

No arrests have been made.

On any given day, that Target attracts hundreds to thousands of shoppers.

“This is a great Target,” shopper Jennifer Miles said. “They keep it nice and clean. It is very professional.”

Police said the incident happened around 5:30 p.m.

Police said the woman didn’t know the flasher. She got into her car and drove away quickly and then called 911.

Shoppers are dismayed at the crime.

“There are crazy people out there doing all kinds of things,” Miles said.

Within the past four weeks, there have been 41 reports of crime within a half-mile of the Target, but most of those crimes were larceny and none of them were sexual.

The incident surprised shopper Scierra Garmon, who recently moved to the area.

“Oh, no, no, very disrespectful, very disgusting,” Garmon said.

Brooke Bailey, who took her son Asher shopping, said she is glad she didn’t witness the indecent exposure.

“It seems like nowhere these days is safe,” Bailey said.
