CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was looking at a car for sale parked in front of the Apartments of Sailboat Bay Tuesday night when he fell into a 25-foot manhole that had a loose cover, officials said.
The manhole was off Albemarle Road near Sharon Amity Road.
Officials said he tried to pull himself up with the ladder inside the manhole but couldn’t.
Someone called rescuers and the man managed to get himself out of the manhole.
He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to be OK, according to officials.
