HICKOY, N.C. — A man has died after being thrown from a boat while on Lake Hickory Saturday morning, wildlife officials said.

Officials said they received a call around 4 a.m. that two men had been thrown from a boat about half a mile west of the Highway 321 bridge.

One of the men, later identified as Terry Josh Fowler, was not wearing a life vest. His body was found near the center of the channel in about 16 feet of water, according to wildlife officials.

Officials said the boat did not have a kill switch and ran into the bank.

Charges are not expected to be filed, according to wildlife officials.
