CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have identified the man shot and killed in the Grier Heights community in south Charlotte on Christmas night.
The shooting happened at the Hampton Crest Apartment on North Wendover Road around 7 p.m. and officers said that the victim, 33-year-old Frederick Handy, showed up at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy with a gunshot wound.

He died a short time later.

Police charged Parish Huntley with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the death.
