Man charged with murder after shooting in Rowan County

WOODLEAF, N.C. — Detectives arrested a suspect in a Rowan County murder early Monday morning at a motel in Statesville.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Chadrick Dekeith Robinson has been charged with the murder of Elliott Rudolph Wilds.

Deputies said Robinson, 38, shot and killed Wilds, 45, at a home on Hardy Lane Saturday afternoon.

The scene unfolded just off Highway 801, in Woodleaf, police said. Woodleaf is about 10 miles northwest of Salisbury.

Police said Robinson shot Wilds multiple times.

Robinson is in the process of being taken back to Rowan County. Investigators have not said what led up to the murder.
