Police said a man was impaired when he hit and killed a woman Wednesday night in University City.
Officers responded around 9:45 p.m. to a crash involving a Toyota Avalon and Nissan Xterra near the intersection of East W. T. Harris Boulevard and Allerton Way.
According to investigators, the Toyota Avalon was entering East W. T. Harris Boulevard from Allerton Way when it was struck in the driver’s side by the Nissan Xterra.
Police said the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital where the driver of the Toyota, 39-year-old Satria Shervanda Gleaton was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Nissan, 46-year-old Jareem Xavior White, was determined to be impaired and was driving the SUV without a license, police said. After being released from the hospital, White was charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and driving while license revoked.
