Fentanyl toxicity was the cause of his death, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Carson Alexander Jones was “the source of the fentanyl,” which caused Whitson’s death, officials said.
Jones was charged with involuntary manslaughter, sell and deliver of a Schedule I controlled substance and death by distribution.
He is currently in the Union County Jail.
