CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been charged following a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in east Charlotte in September, police said.

Officers responded Sept. 10 to E. WT Harris Boulevard, where they found an SUV and motorcycle had collided.

The motorcyclist, 55-year-old George Roland Martin, was ejected and taken to a local hospital by MEDIC with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day.

The driver of the SUV, 25-year-old Milan Xavier Wallace, was not hurt in the crash, and no other passengers were involved.

Police said Martin was traveling south on E. WT Harris Boulevard when Wallace attempted to turn left onto E. WT Harris Boulevard from Delta Crossing Lane to head northbound. Wallace then drove into the path of the motorcycle, and it struck the left side of the SUV.

After police investigated, Wallace was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle. He was also issued a citation for unsafe movement following his arrest.

Authorities believe neither driver was impaired.

No other details have been released at this point.
