Arrest made in murder case connected to slaying of Union Co. teacher

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in a complicated murder case that has ties to another unsolved case involving a teacher killed in South End.

Officers have charged Michael Marble with first-degree murder.

Investigators told Channel 9 he killed Louis Fuqua inside the Econo Lodge motel on Clanton Road in September.

Marble was arrested after voluntarily speaking to police at CMPD headquarters on Wednesday.

This case is also connected to the murder of Union County elementary school teacher.

Ruijuan Guo was shot and killed during a robbery on Park Avenue near the light rail in September. She was with her boyfriend and Fuqua when it happened.

Her boyfriend told police the suspect shot Ruijuan because he couldn’t get to his wallet fast enough.

Fuqua was questioned in Guo’s murder and then found dead inside the motel two days later.

Marble was quiet and void of emotion Thursday in front of the judge. He was given a court appointed attorney and the judge explained that the first-degree murder charge that he faces.

Marble has no bond and will appear before a judge again at the end of the month.

Police have said more arrests could be made in the case.
