Man arrested, charged after deadly east Charlotte hit-and-run

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives announced on Monday that a driver has been charged in a deadly hit-and-run that happened in east Charlotte.

The driver struck Jeremiah Daniel Parrish, 49, on Dec. 8 on Albemarle Road near Farm Pond Lane. He was taken to Atrium Health Main where he died on Saturday.

Kenricka Janee Gist, 25, was driving a 2011 Ford Escape when he allegedly hit Parrish and kept going, according to investigators. He returned to the scene two hours later to speak with officers.

After Parrish died, Gist was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Speed and impairment are not expected factors in the case.
