ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Police arrested a man after they said he stormed a North Carolina Domino’s Pizza with a machete, locked employees in a freezer and then tried to burn the place down.

This happened in Asheville, North Carolina on Monday night, according to our news partners WLOS.

Officials said Curtis Wallace tried to rob the restaurant. They said he locked employees in an office, then moved them into a freezer before trying to start a fire in one of the ovens.

Police said he also assaulted two employees by kicking them, but both are expected to be OK.

“I’m a Christian, I knew the Lord was with us,” employee Travis Carson said. “I did fear getting hit with that machete type knife he had in the back.”

Carson reported Wallace told the employees he was going to “chop their heads off.”

Police caught Wallace as he tried to escape.

Wallace has been charged with five counts of first-degree kidnapping, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, five counts of communicating threats and two counts each of simple assault and injury to personal property.
