CHERRYVILLE, N.C. — A man will be in court on Monday after police said he broke into a woman's home, choked her and raped her.
Phillip Link was arrested off South Mountain Street just blocks from the crime in Cherryville Saturday night.
The woman eventually fought the suspect off and called 911 after he ran away.
People in the area were surprised.
Link just got out of prison one year ago.
He has been charged with drug possession, assault and other crimes in the past.
