Making history: Lenoir-Rhyne takes home championship trophy in men’s lacrosse

HICKORY, N.C. — For just the second time in more than 100 years, Lenoir-Rhyne University is celebrating a national championship.

The school’s men’s lacrosse team took home the trophy last weekend.

It was the culmination of a season filled with promise and challenges, all of which were conquered on the biggest state in Division II men’s lacrosse.

“We really said ‘look, it’s just a game. It’s one more game. Don’t make it bigger than it is,’” said Greg Paradine, the Bears’ head coach .

It’s an outcome that should’ve been impossible. No other five-seed had won the title, until now.
