Woman involved in SWAT situation, now accused of stabbing nurse with pen

CHARLOTTE — A woman who was the focus of a SWAT situation Monday night is now accused of stabbing an Atrium Health nurse with a pen, a source confirmed with Channel 9.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers initially went to the Safire at Matthews Apartments off East Independence Boulevard for a welfare check.

That was when the woman reportedly attacked a nurse with a pen.

Atrium Health officials filed a police report.

Hospital officials sent a statement regarding the stabbing incident: “Violence against our teammates in any form is unacceptable. Physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals work around the clock to provide quality care to everyone who needs it, and they deserve to do so in a safe environment. We reported an incident to local law enforcement and appreciate that they took immediate action. Out of respect for privacy, we cannot provide further details.”

A juvenile was also rescued from the scene off East Independence Boulevard with no apparent injuries.
