KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Just a little more than 30 miles west of Charlotte sits a nostalgic venue that has seen the number of similar operations across the country dwindle over the years. But this drive-in movie theater is thriving.
Preston Brown, the owner of Hounds Drive-In in Kings Mountain, says he’s investing north of $1 million this offseason to expand capacity at the theater, which shows double and sometimes triple features of first-run movies from spring through fall.
When Hounds opens March 27, it will have a third screen, additional concession windows and a second ticket booth.
