DENVER, N.C. — A 33-year-old Maiden man was arrested Monday after law enforcement recovered approximately $30,000 worth of stolen boat equipment taken during a series of break-ins at a marine dealer in Denver, the sheriff in Lincoln County said in a news release.
Detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office identified Logan Durie Goodson as the suspect following multiple breaking and entering and larceny incidents at the American Marine Liquidators throughout September 2026.
Workers at American Marine Liquidators showed Channel 9’s Dave Faherty some of the boats damaged. Radios and navigation equipment were stolen right off the boats. One of the owners, who asked not to be identified, spoke with Faherty after learning about the stolen goods.
“It’s absolutely crazy,” the co-owner said. “I can’t stand a thief. I don’t know why the people in this world have gone to that. I don’t understand.”
The business has been in the Denver area for more than three decades.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Goodson’s Catawba County residence and, with assistance from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, located the stolen boat accessories and equipment inside a garage.
Investigators found the stolen items being sold by Goodson on Facebook Marketplace, according to a search warrant.
One of Goodson’s neighbors was on Facebook Marketplace Wednesday looking for a lawnmower.
Kathy Hager said the online marketplace has its benefits and drawbacks.
“Good things when you’re in a bind or a pinch,” Hager said. “You can sell, and make money, but at the same time, you’re taking a chance.”
Goodson was charged with three counts of larceny, possession of stolen goods and breaking and entering a vehicle or vessel. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a no-bond hold because he was out on bond for a previous charge at the time of his arrest, the sheriff said.
