CHARLOTTE — A longtime staple in the NoDa neighborhood has been honored as one of the “Best Classic Restaurants” in the country.

It highlighted the shop's popular menu items, such as its chili, burgers and liver mush sandwiches.
Brooks is set to reopen next month after a gunman shot and killed co-owner Scott Brooks.
He was trying to open the restaurant for breakfast early in the morning on Dec. 9 when two masked suspects tried to rob him.
