CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This Florida-based mac’n cheese concept expects to open its first restaurant in the Charlotte market in the next nine months.
I Heart Mac & Cheese has signed a multi-unit deal with BMD Mac and Cheese LLC to bring the concept here.
Ben and Melissa Krokson are behind those efforts, with three locations planned.
The fast-casual concept dishes up customizable, made-to-order macaroni-and-cheese dishes and grilled-cheese sandwiches. Options include a choice of pasta or bread — including gluten-free selections — seven different types of cheese, vegetables and seven proteins such as meatballs, bacon, ground beef, short ribs and grilled chicken.
