CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Lyft driver was robbed at gunpoint and carjacked Saturday morning in north Charlotte, police told Channel 9.
The victim was picking up a customer in the 3300 block of North Davidson Street when the customer demanded the driver get out of the car.
Police said the victim was not injured.
Lyft officials sent this statement to Channel 9:
"These allegations are incredibly upsetting and frightening. We are relieved the driver was not seriously harmed, and have reached out to extend our full support.
"Safety has been our number one priority from day one. This behavior is absolutely not tolerated on the Lyft platform, and we have deactivated the passenger account. We have reached out to law enforcement to offer our assistance."
