Lt. governor wants special session on nondiscrimination ordinance

RALEIGH — North Carolina's second in command wants to hold a special session to address Charlotte's controversial nondiscrimination ordinance.

Lt. Gov. Dan Forest said, as leader of the Senate, he's working on calling a session before April 1 when the ordinance goes into effect.

He's trying to get a three-fifths majority to consent to the special session.
 
Lawmakers in the House have already said they want one but only Gov. Pat McCrory can call it.
 
He said it would be too costly.
