Lowe’s to invest $100M effort to improve communities

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s Cos. Inc. will invest $100 million into the communities it serves over the next five years — its largest-ever commitment of its kind.

The Mooresville-based retailer has launched a program called Lowe’s Hometowns that will run through 2026. Plans call for the company to complete 9,000 community-oriented projects across America.

“It feels very true to who we are as a company and a brand,” says Marisa Thalberg, executive vice president, chief brand and marketing officer. “As a small business that grew into the company it is today, this idea of giving back into those communities just feels right and really important to us.”

Each year, 100 signature project will be chosen through customer nominations. Those will revitalize spaces such as neighborhood housing, skilled trades education facilities, community centers and outdoor spaces.
