CHARLOTTE — While thousands lose their jobs and unemployment numbers continue to climb during the coronavirus pandemic, there are industries that are actually desperate to hire workers.
CareerBuilder showed Action 9's Jason Stoogenke its data from this past week. The number one job in demand was truck drivers.

The top companies hiring included Walmart, Amazon, Van & Co. (wood products), Home Instead Senior Care, and C.R. England (trucking).
Some of the top industries looking to fill jobs are waste management, retail, health care, transportation, and warehousing.
Andy Thomas is a career coach in Charlotte. He rattled off a list to Action 9 of industries hiring right now, including banks, grocery stores, Instacart companies, home improvement stores (like Lowe’s and Home Depot), and cyber security companies -- because so many people are working from home.
But Thomas said it is getting competitive.
"There’s this wave of congestion about to hit the marketplace that you need to really be concerned about, and what I mean by that is number of applicants, number of resumes, number of people clamoring to get a few jobs that are out there," he said.
So, have your resume ready now and don’t skimp on it. And be sure to really work all of your networking tools, especially LinkedIn.
