FORT MILL, S.C. — Mac’s Hospitality Group expects to start clearing the way for two new restaurants in Fort Mill in June.

Design work for Mac’s Speed Shop and SouthBound is complete, and permitting is ongoing, says Tony Salerno, president of the Charlotte-based company.

“I hope to have Mac’s open by the end of the year,” says Salerno. “We feel good about the movement there.”

Plans call for Mac’s to invest $5 million-plus on the two, 5,500-square-foot restaurants. They’ll be located on a 3-acre parcel on S.C. Highway 160, off exit 85 from Interstate 77, about a mile from the Baxter mixed-use development. Expect those restaurants to sit side by side with a shared, open-air space.

The company has additional restaurants in the works, including one in Greensboro that’s expected to open this summer. Another, in Mooresville, is not yet under construction.

Salerno expects Mac’s Hospitality will open two to three restaurants a year going forward.
