LENOIR, N.C. — Some people in Lenoir waited two hours to get tested for COVID-19 following the Christmas holiday weekend.

Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty spoke with a woman who thinks she got the coronavirus.

“I’ve had a headache, and I think I was running a fever,” she said. “I was over at family over the holidays. I was around a few people. I just want to get tested, and that way, I can keep from spreading it to somebody else.”
The positivity rate in Caldwell County has climbed above 15%.
There were more than 60 people from the county hospitalized with the virus, which included 49 patients at Caldwell Memorial. There are a dozen patients in the ICU.
The county’s health department said those numbers began rising during the fall and set several daily records between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Amber Aubain said she did not gather with much of her family on Christmas.
“We’ve been really careful with the kids, especially the little one,” she said. “She doesn’t get out, so we just didn’t want to put anyone at risk.”
