CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local sixth-grader is raising money for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit.
Max Milas is raising money to buy bullet-proof vests for the six working dogs at the sheriff's office.
Milas said he wants to help make sure the dogs are protected when they are out protecting the community.
The vests are $2,500 each.
Milas has raised nearly $800, according to his fundraiser page.
