CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County man was arrested Sunday after leading deputies on a vehicle chase through several counties and stealing two cars, authorities said.
Officials said Keith Allen Willis Jr., 39, stole a truck from a business in Hickory on Friday. He then went to a gas station in the town of Catawba and tried to steal another vehicle from a man in the parking lot. He fought with the man and ran away before authorities got there, deputies said.
Sunday morning, Willis, armed with a knife, stole a vehicle from a woman at a gas station near Oxford School Road and Interstate 40.
Once investigators determined Willis as a suspect, deputies said they found him driving the stolen vehicle on Springs Road. Authorities chased Willis into Alexander County, where he was arrested.
