CHARLOTTE — Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is making progress in his recovery after suffering cardiac arrest on the field during Monday Night Football just four nights ago.

According to his agent, Hamlin is breathing on his own and is able to talk.

A local company decided to support a cause that is important to Hamlin.

Carl Fochler, a life-long Bills fan and co-owner of Sheets Laundry Club, donated $25,003 to the Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive, which is a fundraiser started by Hamlin.

The fundraiser helps supports toy drives, back-to-school drives, kids camps, and more.

Fochler added the three dollars to the initial $25,000 for Hamlin’s number, which is three.

Fochler is on the board of a charity organization and knows his donation is money well spent.

“This year, with the economy, a lot of kids had no Christmas. When you go and serve them and see how a bike or toy makes them feel...If you steal the magic of Christmas from these kids...It’s just something we can’t deal with,” Fochler said.

Donations for the Go-Fund-Me have surpassed $8 million.
