Charlotte’s South End gains a self-pour taproom and live entertainment venue with The Studio.

That 2,400-square-foot venture is tucked between Mac’s Speed Shop and Southbound. A soft opening starts Saturday with limited hours. A grand opening is scheduled for Jan. 11.

The Studio will dial in on live entertainment with the help of a booking agency. Think concerts, comedians and even magicians — some free, some ticketed, says Scotty Kent, director of marketing for Hoppin’ Brands.

“The entertainment aspect is going to be the focal point of this venture,” he says.

This is the third venture for Hoppin’ Brands. Rich Moyer and Drew Nesemeier have invested roughly $390,000 into The Studio. They’re also behind Pinhouse in Plaza Midwood and Hoppin’ in South End.
