RALEIGH — Mary Young, of Lincolnton, tried her luck on a $50 scratch-off and won a $1 million prize, the N.C. Education Lottery announced on Tuesday.

Young bought her lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket from Silver Express on East King Street in Kings Mountain.
She chose the lump sum of $600,000 and after taxes, took home $429,014.
