Lincoln County man charged with sexually assaulting juvenile

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A Lincoln County man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a juvenile in December 2019, deputies said.

Jeffrey Rikard, 50, was charged with statutory rape and sex act by a substitute parent.

Authorities received a report Dec. 18 that a girl had been sexually assaulted. She was interviewed at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center, where she told what happened.

Rikard was released from jail after posting bail set at $80,000. His first court appearance is scheduled Tuesday.
