MORGANTON, N.C. — The city of Morganton is trying to prepare for the new federal guidelines for COVID-19 vaccinations, face coverings and testing in the workplace.
The city recently sent out a voluntary survey asking workers about their vaccination status -- but less than half of employees responded.

Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty spoke with city employees and the mayor about preparations underway to meet the OSHA requirements.
Those workers had strong opinions, both for and against responding to the survey as well as the federal requirements.
It’s been almost three weeks since nearly 300 city workers received the survey asking them to reveal their vaccination status. The mayor said Morganton, like other municipalities, is trying to determine how to handle COVID-19 testing for workers who do not get vaccinated next month.
