LendingTree cutting workforce by 13% in latest layoff round

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-based LendingTree Inc. is cutting its workforce by nearly 13% in another round of layoffs to reduce expenses.

“After exploring all avenues to reduce expenses during this challenging macroenvironment, LendingTree’s management team made the difficult decision to conduct a reduction in force, impacting roughly 13% of employees across nearly all levels and departments,” a company spokesperson tells CBJ by email. “While the economy and interest rate environment are affecting the business in ways outside the company’s control, LendingTree is focused on areas that are within its control — expenses and strategic priorities — in order to put the company in a better position for future success.”

The staff reduction impacts about 150 employees, the majority of whom are based in Charlotte, a LendingTree spokesperson confirms. That’s after LendingTree eliminated about 200 jobs companywide in 2022, as previously reported by CBJ.
