CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SouthPark’s first brewery is now open.
Legion Brewing Co. began on Thursday pouring brews inside its new taproom and brewery on the ground floor of the Capitol Towers development. The two-story, 12,000-square-foot space also encompasses a full-service restaurant, private event rooms and an outdoor beer garden. Its grand opening there is set for Oct. 6.
The SouthPark location marks the second for Legion. The brewery’s original location opened in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood in 2015 and has become a popular hangout spot. Legion co-owner Phil Buchy said the intention is to “bring over a touch of that funky Plaza Midwood vibe” to its newest facility in SouthPark.
Buchy told CBJ last fall about Legion’s plans for a SouthPark location, which represents an investment of more than $3 million.
