CHARALOTTE, N.C.,RALEIGH, N.C. — The legal fight over Sen. John Edwards' sex tape ended Thursday afternoon.
Edwards' former mistress, Rielle Hunter, struck a deal with former Edwards aide Andrew Young to get the sex tape back. Hunter sued Young, claiming he stole the video and other sensitive documents.
Sources said that tape showed a graphic sexual act between Edwards and campaign photographer Rielle Hunter in a hotel room in 2007. Edwards was running for president at the time, and his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was sick with cancer.
Sources said when Hunter made the sex tape with Edwards, she was already pregnant with his child.
According to the court settlement, Hunter will get the video back, but she has to destroy it within 30 days.
She also gets back a document she titled the "Slut Club" list. Young said it's a list of Hunter's previous sexual partners.
Hunter will also get back a photograph called "Bikini Photograph" and a document called "Baby Names List."
Edwards initially denied he was the father of Hunter's baby; in fact, Young claimed paternity. But Edwards eventually admitted to the affair.
Hunter sued Young after discovering he had the videotape and the documents.
Eyewitness News went to a Dilworth house where sources said Hunter lives Thursday night. No one answered the door.
Hunter's lawyers released a statement that reads, "The court declared Ms. Hunter the owner of the disputed property and her property will be returned. ... Ms. Hunter is very pleased. She won."
The court settlement does not stop a movie from being made about the affair. That movie is already in the works, based on Young's book, "The Politician."
Young is expected to be a star witness when Edwards goes to trial next month. He's charged with using campaign money to cover up his affair with Hunter.
That trial was recently delayed because doctors said Edwards has a life-threatening heart condition.
