CHARLOTTE, N.C. — LYNX light rail passengers may have another stop in South End halfway between the New Bern and East-West stations.
Members of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization met Wednesday night to hear about the proposal.
Officers target pedestrian dangers in South End
Supporters of the new stop said the purpose is to increase rail transit access, promote transit ridership and provide safer access to the rapid development in the South End area.
The first two years of the project would be funded by funds allocated to CATS, according to the proposal.
Future construction funding will be provided through a combination of public and private funds.
The organization will vote next month on whether to move forward with the possible light rail stop.
