Wanted shooting suspect from Monroe arrested in South Carolina

PAGELAND, S.C. — Multiple police agencies took a man wanted from North Carolina into custody after surrounding a mobile home in South Carolina.

Frederick Ricole Thomas, 43, was arrested around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Coon Creek Road in Pageland, South Carolina. He was wanted out of Monroe, North Carolina.

According to the Monroe Police Department, Thomas had arrest warrants out for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, common law robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The warrants stem from a shooting on Aug. 7 on Cherryridge Road in Monroe. An argument between people who knew each other resulted in a man being shot in the ear, Monroe police said. The victim was expected to make a full recovery.

Police said Thomas had been on the run until he was found Wednesday hiding inside a van at the Coon Creek Road property.

Thomas was taken to the Union County jail.
