HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A tree fell onto Interstate 77 in Huntersville Saturday night, blocking southbound lanes for hours before crews could clear the road.
The tree fell around 8:10 p.m. near Exit 23, or Gilead Road, on I-77.
Crews were able to clear the toll lanes pretty quickly, but it took longer to get the general-purpose lanes reopened.
Officials could be seen working to clear the tree that was stretching across the entire roadway.
No one was hurt during the incident.
